Hotels Barnet

Hendon Hall Hotel

Ashley Ln, London NW4 1HF, UK – 0845 072 7448

Hotel looks quite grand and there are some very nice details in the rooms. It feels old, in a good way. The rooms could have been cleaned and dusted better. The bar was not stocked particularly well. However, for the price I'd say it was overall positive and I would stay here again.

We have stayed several times before and just love the hotel, the staff are so lovely always helpful and friendly so we were very sad to learn it is closing in October. We did feel the wonderful breakfasts have already gone and were just average which was a disappointment. But understandable as is closing. Barry a new member of staff was just so kind and helpful I have to mention him as he couldn't do enough to ensure we enjoyed our stay. Also the lady in the dinning room whose been there for thirteen years, difficult name! She was very welcoming and we were sad to say goodbye to her.

Holiday Inn Express London - Golders Green (A406)

58 Regents Park Rd, London N3 3JN, UK – 020 8371 6060

Fairly good Holiday Inn Express, with clean and pleasant rooms. The bed was not the most comfortable in the world, but equally not the worst. Staff were very friendly and helpful throughout the stay. The location is fairly convenient, and whilst Finchley Central Station is about a 15 minute walk, you can easily get the bus from right outside the hotel. From there, central London is about half an hour away. One of the best things about this hotel is the free parking during your stay, and if you decide to leave your car after you check out it is only £1 per hour! Which is extremely convenient.

High priced, but lavish and very comfortable.

Travelodge London Finchley

Winston House, 2 Dollis Park, London N3 1HF, UK – 0871 559 1891

Spotlessly clean in rooms and all public areas. Comfortable bed. Great choice at breakfast. Nothing is too much trouble for staff . Great value for money.

Hotel was really great for the price. I also accidentally left my iPad in the hotel, I live down in Devon so the hotel kindly sent me my iPad for next day delivery!!! Very grateful offers competitive rates for any type of hotel, from small independent hotels to a five star luxury ones. The site is available in 24 languages and offers over 71000 hotels in 71 countries. Could be useful for you. There are of course several such sites.

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

Barnet Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

The Clissold Arms

105 Fortis Green, London N2 9HR, UK – 020 8444 4224

Had a great time there through an event that was going on but the food and staff were absolutely lovely. I'd love to visit again. I'd recommend for families too as there is so much space.

Great food and drinks - the roast dinner was really well done - a classic. The only problem was that the tables were sticky and not cleaned as well as they should've been. A lovely terrace as well.

The Adam & Eve

The Ridgeway, Mill HIll VIllage, London NW7 1RL, UK – 020 8959 1553

Pretty simple menu but the service was helpful and very quick. Food was good and the venue is very comfortable and welcoming

Food is ok, but service can be slow at times. Quite pleasant area to seat outside, plus a nice exclusive area for parties. It would help if staff managed to be a bit more friendly.

The Orange Tree

7 Totteridge Village, Totteridge, London N20 8NX, UK – 020 8343 7031

Very cosy place, nice selection of wine, I would recommend the scallops as a starter and for the main the sea bass is delicious. Great selection of desserts to finish the evening off as well. Overall experience inside positive, the staff where accommodating and friendly. Would advise to book a table in advance during the busier periods. Parking is available just outside of the pub. The surrounding small lakes and greenery make it a very nice atmosphere and I would recommend to friends and family.

It was Father's day when I visited so the place was crowded. However, from what I heard it is almost like this all the time. And to be honest tgere is reason for this. The food is really great . I tasted something called Trio of roasted meet. It was delicious. My spouse ordered soup of the day ... well this was kind of disappointing. But I don't think we have tasted a good soup in UK. So this was not unexpected. There is also garden where you can sit and a small lake next to it. Lovely place! Definitely worth the time.

Bay Tree House

59 Brookdale, New Southgate, London N11 1BS, UK – 020 8351 2836

I recently stayed at this very quaint Bed and Breakfast for work and found it to be lovely. Initially I was concerned as it seems quite far from London (it is a beautiful residential neighbourhood in North London) however, the tube is a 5 min walk and takes you directly into London - I got to London to Russell Square in 20 minutes - straight line, no changing. The room was large and very comfortable, extremely clean. There is a lovely room to have breakfast and chat with the other guests. Jasmine the owner made a delicious breakfast and was most helpful with any questions. She truly wants you to enjoy your stay with her as she engaged with all of us. The house has a small number of rooms so it was very quiet and the house is very bright and relaxing. Most guests left after breakfast and were gone into the city for most of the day. There is a lovely garden to sit in at the end of a long day. At the end of the street, there are a few pubs to eat in, and a small bakery should you need any treats. Would highly recommend to any traveller looking for a quieter spot to stay yet needing easy and quick access to downtown London. Would definitely come back!

The house itself is beautiful and has a great backyard area. The whole place was very homey and welcoming, but still allowed for privacy. The room was excellent, had a great view, and a really comfortable bed. Couldn't have asked for more :)

The Oaks Guest House

76 Blagden's Ln, London N14 6DD, UK – 020 8886 1030

Excellent Five stars! Nice folks! Walk to the Subway in just a few minutes which will take you anywhere in London. Rooms are clean and neat with modern to date amenities. Great breakfast and service. Will be staying there soon. Highly recommended.

Exceeded my expectations. We looked for the cheapest rates to be close to downtown London not only were the prices great, the place has a charm and warmth that you would never get at a Hilton or Sheridan. Staff were beyond polite and our room had enough towels toiletries etc. Don't hesitate you won't regret it! oohh and the train to get to downtown is very close big plus!
